Advanced Teaching Institute: Maximizing Course Accessibility by Minimizing Academic Ableism

To be offered at a future date.

The semester-long institute comprises a series of seven workshop-style Zoom sessions.

This institute will provide a supportive and informative space to assist faculty in proactively designing a course environment to support students with disabilities, and learning the foundations of creating accessible digital course materials. Institute facilitators, guest speakers, and participants will engage in the following topics:

  • Identify ways to create an accessible and anti-ableist learning environment,
  • Effectively address student accommodations,
  • Create accessible digital course materials (Word, PowerPoint, and PDFs).

Dates for Live Zoom Sessions

Zoom sessions are Thursdays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am Pacific Time

  • September 14
  • September 28
  • October 19
  • October 26
  • November 2
  • November 9

A digital badge and certificates of completion will be earned by those who participate in at least six of the seven synchronous Zoom sessions.
