The Future Faculty Teaching Institute is a training program for USC graduate students and research postdoctoral scholars who want to build a strong foundation for a teaching-focused faculty career. The Institute introduces core principles of course design and effective teaching so participants can begin developing their own teaching practice with confidence and clarity.
The institute includes 12 modules, each with brief pre-work and a one-hour live Zoom session. If you cannot attend the synchronous sessions, an alternative submission option is available.
Across the modules, participants gain:
- A solid grounding in course design and evidence-based teaching practices in higher education.
- Approaches for creating inclusive learning environments.
- Practical techniques to strengthen student learning.
- Space for collaborative, cross-disciplinary conversation with peers
Participants who complete all 12 modules earn a digital badge and a certificate of completion. Completion requires either joining the Zoom session or watching the recording and submitting the alternative assignment.
