If you are an international student and have received a Teaching Assistantship from your department, this Institute is for you!
Offered by the Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET) in partnership with the American Language Institute (ALI), the ITA Language Institute introduces new international teaching assistants to USC. The ITA Language Institute does not replace the TA training program. It is offered in addition to the TA training program to better support the specific needs of international TAs. Each school sets its own policy on which international teaching assistants need to attend.
The Institute will help you:
- Learn about different teaching styles
- Develop and improve your oral communication skills
- Learn how to answer students' questions in class
- Discover how to encourage students to participate in class
Created by Reka Clausen and Lucienne Aarsen of the USC American Language Institute, (213) 740 - 0079
Please note that this Institute is highly recommended as it provides invaluable preparation for the ITA Oral Interview Exam, which is required of most new International Teaching Assistants. If you would like to participate in the Institute, please contact your TA Coordinator/ Graduate Advisor.
