Oussama "Sam" Safadi
Oussama Safadi is an Associate Professor of Engineering Practice in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department (Viterbi School of Engineering). He joined USC in 1991. He taught and in some cases also developed 14 courses (both undergraduate and graduate) for the AME Department. These courses are in the fields of Applied Mechanics and Applied Mathematics. The courses range from basic and fundamental such as AME 201 Statics to more advanced such as AME 529 Aircraft Structures Analysis and AME 584 Fracture Mechanics and Mechanisms.
Dr. Safadi was a Mentor in the Engineering Mentoring Program from its first initiation in 1998 and for three consecutive academic years (1998 – 2001).
Dr. Safadi was the recipient of the AIAA Undergraduate Individual Aircraft Design Competition Award / Faculty Advisor (First Place 2007 – 2008). He was also the recipient of Northrop Grumman 2006 Excellence in Teaching Award. He has been living in the Los Angeles area since 1979 and received his PhD in Engineering from UCLA in 1991.
