The Faculty
University of Southern California

Dear Colleague:

I cordially invite you to nominate yourself or another faculty member for the position of Faculty Fellow at the Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET). This is a position of great distinction awarded to those who are both exemplary teachers and prominent scholars. Candidates must be committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. The Center will be recruiting six new members to begin in July/August 2012.

To be eligible for selection as a Faculty Fellow, a candidate must be a tenured Full Professor, a tenured Associate Professor, or a full-time member of the non tenure-track faculty with at least five years of service at USC. The selection of Fellows is a highly selective merit-based process. The criteria for selection include exceptional teaching, appropriate scholarly activity, and an ability to engage other faculty in promoting pedagogical excellence and innovation.

A CET Faculty Fellow appointment is for three years. It carries with it an award of $7,500 over three years that may be used as an unrestricted research grant.

Information about the Center's Faculty Fellows (including nomination procedures) may be found at the following URL’s:

The Center will be accepting nominations until the positions are filled: Nomination form (Microsoft Word document)

Please submit your nomination materials in a single pdf to usccet@usc.edu.

Please direct any questions you may have to Ed Finegan, Director of CET, at 213-740-7591 or finegan@usc.edu. My hope is that our very best faculty will step forward to participate in CET's Faculty Fellow program to build on the Center’s foundation of excellence.

Sincerely,

Gene Bickers
Vice Provost for Undergraduate Programs
