Eyal Ben-Isaac
Eyal Ben-Isaac is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Pediatrics at the USC Keck School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in 1992, and has continued to maintain a practice (inpatient and outpatient) in the Division of General Pediatrics. He has also been the Pediatric Residency Program Director at CHLA since 1994, supervising the training of approximately 85 residents each year.
Dr. Ben-Isaac lectures throughout the year to both CHLA pediatric housestaff and medical students from the USC Keck School of Medicine. He has developed a large portfolio of lecture topics, and has been instrumental in the development of the overall educational curriculum. He has developed several educational tools used by the residency program including Objective Structured Clinical Exams, a Pediatric Board Review course, a general pediatric educational CD-Rom, a web portal, on-line learning modules, and General Pediatric competency exams.
Dr. Ben-Isaac has been recognized for his contributions with both teaching and clinical awards. These include the Philip E. Rothman Teaching Award, the Barbara Korsch Excellence in Medical Education Award, Morris and Mary Press Humanism Award, and a number of Top Doctor honors.
Dr. Ben-Isaac has an interest in education and general pediatrics. He has been an invited speaker and has published articles on such related topics. His current interests involve the impact of restricted duty hours for trainees and the development of teaching modalities to maintain competency. He is also currently involved in the development of new educational curriculums as well as a Simulation Center at CHLA.
