University Outstanding TA Award: Selection Process FAQs
Name of award:
University Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.
Number of awards:
Three awards from diverse areas such as the natural sciences and engineering, the social sciences, and the humanities and arts.
$1,000. A citation accompanies monetary award.
Who is eligible?
All USC Teaching Assistants and Assistant Lecturers, or those who hold positions of similar responsibility, who have taught more than one semester at USC and have been nominated for the award by their department.
Award selection criteria:
Procedures for the selection of nominees are determined by the nominating departments.
How are nominations solicited?
Memorandum from the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching.
The Committee (chaired by the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching) forwards its recommendations to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
How is the awardee notified?
Letter from the Provost. A copy of that letter is sent to the awardee’s department head and to the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching.
When is the award given?
Award is given at the Academic Honors Convocation ceremony (in April).
